With larger saturation current and lower DCR than ferrite core, WPN252012E series inductors are most suitable for mobile phone quick charging for increasingly high current.
Background
Quick charging as a "magic weapon" for the mobile phone to solve the problem of battery lifehas gradually spread to the middle/low level equipment. There are three methods to improve the charging power: unchanged current and boosted voltage; unchanged voltage and boosted current; both current and voltage boosted. Most quick charge schemes choose the way of boosted voltage at present: the adapter lower the 220V AC to 9V DC or 12V DC, then reduce to about 4.2V to charge the battery on the mobile phone, while the charging current may reach up to 5A.In order to reduce self-heat of IC and inductors, dual IC & dual inductors scheme is widely employed to realize Irms≤3A in one path. Therefore, higher saturation/temperature rise current of inductor in a small size is requested by the battery management chip in order to reduce self-heat and raise conversion efficiency. The uniqueness and the main selling point of WPN252012 E are to use a highly efficient automatic production line to archive stable product quality and performance. Compared with the molding inductor, inductor of independent molding core reduces the damage of copper wire, which promotes the product reliability.
